Activity 1
There are 16 place names in the poem. Find those names and write them in the spaces below.
Ngohe 1
Tekau mā ono ngā ingoa o ngā wāhi kei roto i te rotarota. Rapua aua ingoa, tuhia ki raro nei.
Activity 2: Pair work
- In pairs, one person will act out a place name and the other person tries to guess what the place name is by using the answers from Activity 1.
- When the partner guesses the correct place name the pairs swap roles.
- Continue with this activity until 5 - 8 place names have been role played.

- Kaiwhakaari − Whakamahia te reo ā-tinana, ā-ringa hoki hei whakaari atu i tētahi o ngā ingoa wāhi mai i ngā whakautu o te Ngohe 1.
- Kaimātakitaki − Me mātakitaki i te kaiwhakaari, ka kimi i te wāhi tika.

Activity 4: Letter writing
Write a letter to the author of Te matamata. Ask questions about the things you would like to know about in the story. There are two examples of possible beginnings below.
