This story is about two stars, Kemokemo and his sister Kanapa-i-te-rangi, travelling the night sky from dusk until dawn.
They carve out the pattern of a post in their wake, and learn the names of the stars they meet on the way.

1. | The students listen to the story being read aloud and then answer the following questions:

4. | The students: a. write their own description of one of the stars or constellations referred to in the story e. write their own version of how a constellation was created. |
5. | The students look at the illustrations of the stars and constellations. Working in pairs and taking turns, one student says a word to describe one of the stars or constellations and the other identifies which illustration is being referred to. |
6. | The students create and present descriptions and drawings of the stars or constellations. |
